Planning a trip to the beautiful coastal city of Lagos Portugal? Lagos should definitely be high up on your travel bucket list and for good reasons with all the amazing natural beauty this Portuguese city has to offer. For those of you planning a trip to Lagos here are the top 6 things to do in Lagos Portugal.

Lisbon Portugal and Porto Portugal are often at the top of everyone’s travel bucket lists but some do not realize everything Lagos Portugal has to offer.
After visiting three major cities in Portugal, including Lisbon, Porto, and Lagos I must say Lagos surprised me. Lagos is a smaller, laidback, calmer environment with lots of outdoor activities to enjoy.
From beautiful coastal walks to colourful buildings in Old Town Lagos, Lagos has it all.
This post is all about the top things to do in Lagos Portugal.
Top 6 Things to Do in Lagos Portugal
1. Walk Around Lagos Old Town

Lagos Old Town is filled with beautiful coloured buildings, little shops, and restaurants. I highly recommend spending some time on the first day you arrive in Lagos Portugal to walk around Lagos Old Town. Walk down the cobblestone streets, window shop or buy some travel souvenirs, stop by a cafe or shop to grab a snack, or just sit and people watch. Lagos Old Town is an absolutely beautiful place.
2. Go Kayaking in Lagos

Kayaking along the breathtaking coastline of Lagos NEEDS to be added to your Lagos Portugal itinerary. I booked the kayaking tour I went on in Lagos through
GetYourGuide, the company was called Lagos Algarve Kayak Tours. On this tour, you paddle along the coast, around the rock formations, and through caves while learning more about Lagos. Around halfway through the kayak, we enjoyed a swim break before heading back. It was absolutely amazing and a highlight of my time in Lagos.

3.Walk to Ponta da Piedade

Lagos has a beautiful coastal walking path starting just outside Lagos Old Town to Ponta da Piedade. Along this walk you will walk past many of the popular beaches in Lagos including Praia do Camilo, Praia Dona Ana, and Praia do Pinhão. This walk is along a boardwalk that overlooks the water and beautiful rock formations. A great time to walk to Ronta da Piedade is right before sunset since the path is less busy, it won’t be as warm as mid-day, and you get to see the sky change colours.
4.Visit Praia do Cais da Solaria

Praia do Cais is a beach very close to Lagos Old Town. This beach is nestled between the rocky coastline. There are many beautiful beaches along the coastline of Lagos but this one is a quick walk from the Old Town of Lagos as well as the Lagos Algarve Kayak Tours. Since the beach was so close to the kayaking tour company we walked straight there after our kayaking tour was done.
5. Enjoy Lagos Nightlife

If you like to go out at night Lagos has some great bars and clubs. When I visited Lagos I went to Eddies Bar for Happy Hour between 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. For their happy hour, you could get 2 Large Cocktails for 6 euros, which if you ask me is a great deal. I recommend sitting at the tables outside Eddies Bar to enjoy the views of Lagos. I also visited Inside Out which was a great club in Lagos.
6. Visit Praia de São Roque

Praia de São Roque also called Duna Beach is a beach on the other side of the water from Lagos Old Town. You can reach this beach by walking over the Ponte elevatória de Lagos which is a bridge to get to the other side of the water. The walk from Lagos Old Town to Duna Beach is around 15-20 minutes. If you do not want to walk you can take a water taxi/ little boat across the water from the Old Town to the other side. This beach is a huge white sand beach with clear blue water. I highly recommend you spend one of your beach days in Lagos at Duna Beach.
That brings us to the end of the top 6 things to do in Lagos Portugal. Enjoying the Lagos beaches, water activities, Lagos Old Town, and Lagos Nightlife are some of the best ways to spend your time travelling Lagos. Lagos Portugal is an amazing city to visit during your Portugal trip so it should be on your Portugal itinerary. I hope this list of the best things to do in Lagos was helpful and answered any questions you may have had before your trip. Have an amazing trip to Lagos and safe travels!
