Bali Bucket List
Visit the Ubud Monkey Forest
About
I am sure most people planning a trip to Bali have heard of the monkey forests. The island of Bali has a few different money forests including the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, the Sangeh Monkey Forest, and the Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest. The Ubud Monkey Forest is the one I visited during my trip to Bali and it was amazing. This monkey forest is a sanctuary for hundreds of monkeys so it is super cool to see these creatures up close.
I do want to make a quick comment about how these are wild animals and even though they are in a money forest and there are workers around please follow the rules so neither you nor the monkeys get hurt. Please treat these animals with care as you are visiting their home.

Price
There is an entrance fee to enter the monkey forest which you can pay at the ticket counter before entering.
- Weekdays: Adults (80,000 IDR) and Children 3-12 years old (60,000 IDR)

Go on a Jungle Swing
About
I’m sure most of you have seen the iconic photos of people on a giant swing overlooking beautiful rice fields. That can be you when you come to Bali. There are many different spots in Bali where you can go on a jungle swing. I recommend visiting Satria Coffee Plantation in Ubud. It’s the best of both worlds where you can get a tour of the coffee plantation, get an assortment of coffees and teas to try and then you can pay a bit extra to go on the jungle swing.
Location
Price
The jungle swing I went on was on a coffee plantation so a tour of the plantation and testers of an assortment of teas and coffees were FREE but to go on the swing it cost around 200,000 IDR.
Hours
The opening hours for Sintra Luwak Coffee are from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm.
Visit the Holy Water Temple
About
The Pura Titra Empul, also known as the Holy Water Temple, is an amazing experience to immerse yourself in the Balinese culture. You can first walk around the beautiful temple then end your visit going into the purification pools. It is a wonderful experience that I highly recommend you add to your Bali bucket list.
Location
Price
There is an entrance fee for Tirta Empul Temple which is 50,000 IDR and you can pay this upon arrival.
Hours
Pura Tirta Empul Temple in Ubud Bali is open every day from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Visit Beji Guwang Hidden Canyon
About
Visiting the Beji Guwang Hidden Canyon is probably one of the best experiences in Bali. It was completely unexpected in the best way possible. You swim, climb, and walk through this amazing canyon. And if that’s not enough for you on the way back to the beginning you get to walk through beautiful rice fields.
When I visited the Beji Guwang Hidden Canyons in Ubud I was on a tour that visited some amazing spots in Ubud including these canyons, some beautiful temples, and amazing waterfalls. If you are interested in this tour check it out on GetYourGuide it was called “Bali: Hidden Canyon, Waterfall & Temples Small Group Tour.”
Location
Price
If you wanted to go on the same tour that I went on with GetYourGuide that visited these canyons as well as other temples and waterfalls in Ubud it would cost around $35 CAD. If you just wanted to go on a Canyon Tour through the Hidden Canyon of Beji Guwang it would cost around 200,000 IDR (around 17 CAD).
Hours
The Beji Guwang Canyons are open from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Watch a Balinese Fire Show
About
There are many amazing dances that are held in the temples all around the island of Bali. I got to go see the amazing Kecak Fire and Trance Dance in Ubud, Bali. There is singing, acting, and firewalking, it was incredible to watch.
Location/ Price/ Hours
There are lots of different shows held at many different temples in Ubud’s city center. During the day when you are walking around, there will be people on the streets handing out flyers with all the information about the location, price, and what time the show will be held. So keep an eye out because these shows are incredible to watch.
Hike Mount Batur
About
Mount Batur is an active volcano in Bali and it is a popular hike for sunrise. Getting up at 2:00 am may sound awful but once you reach the summit and see the beautiful sunrise you will definitely think it was worth it. It takes around 2 hours to hike up and 1.5/2.0 hours to hike back down, but the views are well worth the hike.
If you are planning to hike Mount Batur for sunrise I highly recommend you book a tour. There are lots of different tours out there on websites like GetYourGuide for a very affordable price and includes all your hiking gear and sometimes breakfast.
Location
Price
Mount Batur Sunrise Tours range in price but start from around $40 and that includes a guide, hiking gear like headlamps for hiking in the dark, and breakfast when you get to the top.
