Fraser Island is a fantastic place to visit, leaving you with so many unforgettable memories. Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and because of that, you get the opportunity to drive along the beach to get to all the amazing locations. When I travelled here I spent 3 days (2 nights) camping on Fraser Island, so here is the ultimate 3-day Fraser Island, Australia Itinerary.
Day 1 on Fraser Island
Getting to Fraser Island
There are three ferries that go to Fraser Island these include Manta Ray Fraser Island barge, Fraser Venture, and Kingfisher Bay Ferry. These ferries leave from different locations. Manta Ray Fraser Island barge leaves from Rainbow Beach at Inskip Point. This ferry cost $130.00 both ways for a 4wd including passengers and takes around 10 minutes. Both Fraser Venture Ferry and Kingfisher Bay Ferries leave from River Head. These ferries cost around $300+$7pp for a large 4wd and the journey over to Fraser Island takes around 30 minutes.

Once you arrive on Fraser Island it depends if you first want to get to where you will be staying the night or if you are ready to explore right away. We stayed in Dilli Village Campsite for anyone looking for a good campsite.
Lake Wabby
About
Lake Wabby is no average lake it is surrounded by sand blows, which look really similar to sand dunes. It is a beautiful green-coloured, freshwater lake. Don’t miss out on the beautiful Lake Wabby because it will eventually be covered in sand.
Location
Lake Wabby is located in the Great Sandy National Park on the eastern side of Fraser Island.
How to Get There
To get to Lake Wabby you have to walk around 45 minutes each way. It is a nice path and the walk isn’t difficult.

Lake Mckenzie (Boorangoora)
About
Lake Mckenzie is a beautiful freshwater lake. With its beautiful blue waters and white sand beaches it is a must-see spot on Fraser Island.
Location
Lake Mckenzie is located in the Great Sandy National Park.
How to Get There
To get to Lake Mackenzie you have to make sure you have a good car to drive in the sand and up pretty steep hills. But the bumpy ride is worth it for this beautiful lake. There is a parking lot right by the walkway to the beach, so there is not a long walk like it was to get to Lake Wabby.
Champagne pool
About
The Champage Pools are unfortunately not actually Champagne, but they are natural pools right along the ocean. When the waves crash over the rocks into the pools, they bubble down the rocks looking like Champage which gave the location its name.
Location
The Champagne pools are about 15km off the coast of Hervey Bay. They are located on the north side of the island.
How to Get There
To get to the Champagne Pools you have to park along the beach and walk along a short broadwalk and down some stairs to get to the pools. The walk is not long it only takes around 5-10 minute.

Ship Wreck (S.S. Maheno)
About
The S.S. Maheno is one of many ship wrecks along Fraser Island. In July 1935 there was a big storm that caused the S.S. Maheno to get pushed onto one of Fraser Islands Beachs. Now it is a popular tourist attraction on Fraser Island.
Location
The S.S. Maheno Ship Wreck is located on Fraser Islands Eastern Beach.
How to Get There
There is easy access to the S.S. Maheno Ship Wreck since it is right on the beach. If you are driving along the eastern side of Fraser Island I am sure you will see it. You can stop and park along the beach to get a better look at the ship wreck.
Eli Creek
About
Eli Creek is the largest creek on the eastern beach of Fraser Island. With its beautiful clear freshwater, its a must see on Fraser Island.
Location
As mentioned before this creek is on the east side of Fraser Island.
How to Get There
Eli Creek flows out into the ocean so all you have to do is park along the beach and the creek will be right there. There is a boardwalk that you can walk along to get further up the creek and then you can either walk or swim back.
