If you are planning a trip to Bali and love exploring the outdoors, hikes are a great way to see the amazing landscapes Bali offers. Here are 3 of the best hikes in Bali, Indonesia you cannot miss.

Hikes in Bali

The island of Bali is has such a beautiful landscape and amazing nature. If you love being active and getting outdoors Bali is an amazing place to add to your bucket list.

I am an outdoor lover myself and went on some amazing hikes during my trip to Bali and wanted to share the best ones I went on with you.

This post is all about the top 3 best hikes in Bali, Indonesia.

Best Hikes in Bali

1. Mount Batur

About

This hike is absolutely amazing and a must do when you visit Bali. You can do this hike at any time but I would highly recommend you to do the Mount Batur Sunrise Trek. You can do the hike to the summit and back by yourself but if you go for the sunrise I would recommend going with a tour, it’s affordable and they have all the equipment you will need to hike in the dark.

If you are interested in booking with a tour checkout GetYourGuide’s Sunrise Mount Batur Hike that includes breakfast.

Location

Distance/Time:

Mount Batur Hike is around a total of 9km from the base, to the summit, and back. It takes around 2 hours each way (2 hours from base of the volcano to the summit and then 2 hours back down to the bottom).

Difficulty Level:

I would say the Mount Batur Trek is a moderately difficult hike. If you are physically active you can definitely do this hike.

2. Campuhan Ridge Walk

The Campuhan Ridge Walk’s start is in Ubud’s center. This walk has beautiful views overlooking the amazing landscape Ubud has to offer. This hike is also not super busy and crowded so it’s a great way to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Location:

Distance/Time:

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is around 30 minutes each way if you don’t take any breaks (in total it should take around an hour).

Difficulty Level:

This Ridge Walk is an easy walk that anyone can enjoy. It’s a pretty flat walk with slight inclines every once in a while throughout the walk.

3. Guyangan Waterfall

About:

Guyangan Waterfall walk has a blue staircase of 700 steps along the side of a cliff. It has beautiful views overlooking the bright blue water.

Before starting your hike down, you first have to make sure you are dressed for a temple, since one is located at the bottom of the hikes, which means your knees have to be covered with a sarong. There is somewhere at the beginning of the walk where you can rent a sarong if you don’t have one. Then you can start the hike down. The steps are very steep, so I would recommend wearing proper shoes (I made the mistake of wearing sandals and was very scared I would lose them, so I was walking super slow).

Also just a warning before you go on this hike do not be fooled by the name there is not a huge waterfall at the bottom, but there is a beautiful temple and natural pools to swim in. Once you enjoy your time at the bottom it’s time to make your way back up and be prepared to sweat because wow was it steep and hot on the way up.

Location:

Distance/Time:

There is around a total of 700 stairs you have to walk down to see the temple and natural pools and then back up. It should take around an hour to walk down and up (but it depends how long you stay at the bottom).

Difficulty Level:

The difficulty level of the Guyangan Waterfall walk is between moderate/difficult level. But the views are definitely worth the good sweat you will get walking up and down these stairs.

That brings us to the end of the top 3 hikes in Bali that I highly recommend you do while visited the beautiful island of Bali, Indonesia. I hope this was helpful for any fellow adventurers out there. Bali is really filled with amazing natural beauty and I truly believe the best way to witness it is with amazing adventures like walks and hikes. I hope you have an amazing trip and safe travels!
